Capsule Endoscopy This is one investigation which is done exclusively in our Institution for the whole of South Tamil Nadu. This is a very useful investigation in identifying small bowel diseases, especially obscure GI bleeds. 2. Stapler Haemorrhoidectomy This is a recent modality for the treatment of piles and it is a better option than even laser surgery. There will be no external wound and the patient can return to normal work earlier. But it can be done only in selective patients. 3. GI Bleed Unit We are having a specialized unit with skilled persons for managing GI bleeding cases. These patients presents with blood vomiting, bloody stools and black coloured stools and sometimes in shock due to blood loss. After identifying the cause for bleeding by doing endoscopy, we use various techniques like banding, sclerotherapy, polypectomy etc to control the bleeding depending upon the aetiology. 4. Stoma Clinic We are conducting Stoma Clinic, for teaching and counseling patients with temporary or permanent intestinal stomas like Colostomy & Ileostomy. We have trained staffs to counsel the patients and mentally preparing them for such surgeries. 5. Harmonic Scalpel This is the latest invention used for tissue cutting & coagulating. This harmonic scalpel is used for laparoscopic & open surgeries. This is also extensively used in hemorrhoids surgery 6. Hi-tech Operation Theatre We have two operation theatres with Hi-tech facilities and modern equipments like Advanced Laparoscopic Instruments, Staplers, Harmonic Scalpel, Advanced Anesthesia Machine with Anaesthesia Ventilator and Multiparameter Monitor with Capnography (ETCO2) and Invasive Pressure Monitoring Facilities. Apart from this, we also have the latest automatic remote controlled operation table, new version operation theatre light with inbuilt camera from Martin Company. The operative findings can be displayed in the monitor outside OT to the relatives. All laparoscopic surgeries are recorded. Latest Defibrillator for emergency purpose. C-Arm: This is used for endoscopic biliary procedures and pancreatic duct stenting. Latest and hi-tech Martin Diathermy with monopolar & bipolar probes with numerous modes which can be used for open surgeries, laparoscopic and also for endoscopic surgeries. 7. Peri-Operative Care by Physician All the patients are screened and treated for co-existing medical problems by our Physician before surgery so as to optimise their condition prior to surgery. They are also followed up by him after surgery right up to the day of discharge from the Hospital. 8. Surgical Intensive Care Unit A 5 bedded Intensive Care Unit is located adjacent to the Operation Theatre. This Unit has the following facilities. Ventilators Hemodynamic Monitoring-Invasive and Non-Invasive Defibrillators Syringe Pumps Infusion Pumps A team of Intensively Motivated and Highly Competent Staff 9. Surgery for Morbid Obesity Nowadays Morbid obesity is an alarming health hazard which needs to be intervened. We are doing laparascopic surgeries to achieve weight reduction in a rapid manner. Depending upon the patient we will do different types of procedures like gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, etc.
