Started in July 2006, Gastro Care Hospital was Dr. K. Kathiravan’s dream project to provide a Tertiary Care Centre for Gastro Intestinal diseases in Trichy. Having many unique features this is a one-of-a-kind Institution in this part of Tamil Nadu.
Our Achievements in the Department of Gastroenterology
- Around 15000 outpatients treated per year.
- Around 3500 inpatients treated per year.
- Around 7500 upper GI Scopies (Diagnostic) per year.
- Around 1500 lower GI Scopies per year.
- Around 750 therapeutic endoscopic procedures per year.
- Around 750 laparoscopic surgeries and around 750 open surgeries per year.
Since many patients with abdominal complaints have co-existing Medical and Urological problems the Departments of Critical Care Medicine and Urology have been started in June 2008. In order to provide the same high quality care in Critical Care and Urology that is being provided in Gastroenterology these two Departments are housed in a separate block with all necessary manpower and equipments.
Our Future Plans
- Increase the number of laparoscopic surgeries for morbid obesity.
- To develop the department of intensive medical care and urology.
- To upgrade our centre to Research and Teaching Institution.
